The piece is a three dimensional scuptural human form constructed with discarded polystyrene foam, fiberglass mesh, and cement mixes. It will be covered in a mosaic-like fashion with scrap, reuse, discarded, and non-re-cyclable materials. Some examples of the materials are glass bottles and tiles, ceramic shards and tiles, and small metal items (bottle caps, hardware, wire). One side of the figure will represent these items as they are problematic in our world (i.e., pollution, neglect, waste ) while the other side will display the materials as "art" in a pleasing, attractive style. The sides will have the words "problem" and "solution" included in the mosaic design. The pieces will be attached to the bare sculpture with thin set cement.
